A lil break, Daffodils, Don't Give Up
Welcome to my newsletter where I share my personal creative process. I hope to inspire you to pick up a pen, paint brush or spatula and create something spectacular.
Good evening friends. I’ve been gone for a little while, taking a sabbatical from my sabbatical. There’s been a lot of change in my life this month and it’s been difficult (...actually, impossible) for me to make space to create art and writing.
And it’s OK. I’m OK. I’m not giving up on my goal to become a full-time artist and writer. I just needed a little break. But I’m back, and ready to create again.
New Painting on my Site: Daffodils
I painted daffodils, featured in my header image. This was a housewarming gift for my bestie. I brought this on a plane with me all the way to the other side of the country. I’m currently writing an essay about her and this painting. Stay tuned.

Gentle Reminder: Don’t Give Up.
Yes, the image on the left is the early version of my Casper painting.
I started blocking out his general shape with solid blobs of color, then slowly painted more and more layers of detail on top. The fine hairs are the very last layer.
Always trust the process, keep moving forward, and never give up.

I like the, “taking a sabbatical from my sabbatical” framing and the reminder that you can take a detour, pause, or step back at any time and it doesn’t mean it’s the end of something, or that it’s forever, it’s just what’s happening for right now and that’s okay. You can change your mind, you can change everything, you can do whatever you want. It’s all okay.
LOVE your daffodils and all the colors you incorporated, by the way. IT’S GORGEOUS and what a thoughtful gift. Love the essay idea and you exploring your painting in your writing. Just generally looking forward to my eyes getting to read more of your words. I MISS IT.
And Casper will never not blow my mind. You’re truly a wizard painter and I’m in awe of you and your patience and diligence to create something that majestic.
